In Memory of the 2011 "Fallen Bishopites"

Dr. Charles A. Hunter

In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life, The Hunter
Family shares with you the news that our dear, beloved father, Dr. Charles
A. Hunter, died on Sunday, June 12, 2011, in Dallas, Texas.  Dr. Hunter was
85 years old.  A minister, college professor, peacemaker, community & civic
leader and columnist, he was a colleague, mentor and friend to many.  His
life impacted many lives, locally in Dallas, nationally cross the United
States, and internationally in Nicaragua, Haiti and other places where he
engaged in mission.  He held 5 academic degrees, was a professor of
Sociology formerly on the faculty of Bishop College in Dallas, served on
many boards and organizations, and pastored at numerous congregations, most
notably Hope, Glendale, St. Luke and Oak Cliff Presbyterian Churches in
Dallas, TX.

Funeral services will be held at Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church, 6000 S.
Hampton Road, Dallas, TX 75232, on Saturday, June 18, at 11:00 a.m., and
visitation with the family will be at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6000 South
R. L. Thornton Freeway,  Dallas, TX 75232, on Friday, June 17, from
6:00-8:00 p.m.  Also, open visitation will be on Thursday and Friday at
Laurel Land and Saturday at Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church, up until the time
of the service.


In Memory of the 2007 "Fallen Bishopites"

Charles Earl Butler (Turk) – Entered God’s presence on March 4, 2007. Turk was born January 2, 1945 and was laid to rest on March 9, 2007. Turk’s celebration service was held at 12:00 p.m. at First Christian Methodist Evangelistic Church in Dallas, TX.
Serita Sue Doyle Lattimore – Entered God’s presence on her birthday April 20, 2007. Serita was born April 20, 1942 and was laid to rest on April 26, 2007. Her celebration of life service was held at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, TX. Serita leaves to treasure her memories; Husband and Bishopite: Emerson Lattimore; Son: Byron Lattimore; Sister and Bishopite: Lynetta Doyle Haynes-Oliver; nephew and Bishopite: Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III.
Samuel West, Jr . – Entered God’s presence on August 20, 2007. Sam was born June 18, 1944 and was laid to rest on August 2t, 2007. Sam’s celebration service was held at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, TX. Sam leaves to treasure his memories; Wife and Bishopite: Narvella Dillard West; 2 Sons; and 1 daughter.
Alfred Jones (Coach) – Entered God’s presence on September 5, 2007. Alfred was born June 12, 1942 and was laid to rest on September 14, 2007. Alfred’s celebration service was held at 1:00 p.m. at Carver Heights Baptist Church, Dallas, TX. Alfred leaves to treasure his memories; Wife of 45 years and Bishopite: Etta D. Jones.
