My father, James Boyd, graduated from Bishop in the early 1950s. While growing up in Marshall, my home church, Bethesda Baptist Church, had annual Bishop College Days to raise funds for Bishop. Wiley College now claims to be the oldest Black College west of the Mississippi with no mention of Bishop at all. My heart breaks each time I hear this. Bishop was actually the oldest Black College west of the Mississippi.

A BISHOP COLLEGE GRADUATE is the latest Black American Author to write a book on Racism. The title of the book is “AMERICAN RACISM, THE BIG WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION”. The Author of the book is DENNIS L. KIRKPATRICK, from the class of 1970. Please preview this book at Google.com, Barnes & Nobel or Amazon.com. In Google.com, search for the above title. In the third article down - (Google Books), click on the small racism book at far left. Scroll down the large racism book at right. I would rate this book as Five Star (*****). Please don’t miss this message. Thank you.

Greetings to all Bishop College Alumni;

In December of 2012, I, Dennis L. Kirkpatrick promised you guys a book I had written about racism. After several months of making changes and negotiating with Trafford Publishing Company’s Content Evaluation Department, my book is now complete and available for sale. It is titled “American Racism, The Big Weapon of Mass Destruction”. It can be purchased at Barnes and Nobel, Amzon.com, Google.com, Library.com, Books-A-Million and other book outlets.

For the best free preview, go to Google.com and select the third Article (Google Books). Click the small “Racism” book at left and scroll down at right to preview the book. You can also click on “About the book at left. I will be giving everyone your final exam on the book in January, 2014 so be prepared. (Don’t Smile). You can reach me at umbolee2003@yahoo.com) or (707) 365-4485. - PS. Bobby Moten, I need to borrow your car. Call me.

Dear Fellow Alums,
Bishop College is being recognized.
For its 10th anniversary, the Nasher Sculpture Center is building upon founders Raymond and Patsy Nasher’s ambition of making art accessible to everyone by presenting Nasher XChange, a dynamic public art exhibition consisting of 10 newly commissioned sculptural installations by contemporary artists at sites dispersed throughout the city of Dallas. On opening day, October 19th, the public is invited to celebrate these new works with special events and activities taking place at each location.

One of the event sites will be at Paul Quinn College, where artist Vicki Meek will illuminate Bishop College’s role in the intellectual and cultural life of Dallas, as well as its contribution to the city’s important cultural institutions. Our hope is to have a street fair that will feature Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Paul Quinn students, and Bishop arts alums. We would like to invite you to contribute by sharing your talents with the community. We would love to see you there. The street festival will begin at 10am and end at 1 pm.

Please let us know if you are interested, or if you have any questions.

Thanks so much,

Hannah Fagadau
