My Parents, Burtrust(Pete) T. Wilson from Waco, Texas, and Itasco Woodard from Silsbee, Texas graduated from Bishop College in 1931.

They retired as school teachers in Kerrville, Texas. Any Bishop info from that era will be appreciated.

I attended Bishop College from 1951 to 1954, I did not graduate. My sister, Flo-Nell Wilson also, attended from 1954 to 1960 - she is a graduate from the Dallas campus. My parents graduated from Bishop in 1931. They retired as school teachers. My uncle, Joseph J. Wilson also, graduated from Bishop.

Do you have yearbook or news articles from that era.

I attended Bishop College in the during the 1966-67 and 1967-68 school years. Some of the best years of my life were spent singing while on choir tour.

My sister , June Porter, and I pledged AKA at Bishop. I have not been active since pledging and do not remember the name of the Chapter. Neither do I remember the name of our "pledge line"? If anyone has this information please email me at middletonev@att.net.

I hope all Bishopites ate too much turkey and dressing like I did on Thanksgiving Day. You’ll be OK after you digest all of that good food. I also hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Finally, I hope you experience the powerful message within my new book “American Racism, The Big Weapon of Mass Destruction”, as shown below. It’s up to us to end racism since we are all created equal. We can do it if we try.

Thank you

Dennis Kirkpatrick – (Hoop)

A BISHOP COLLEGE GRADUATE is the latest Black American Author to write a book on Racism. The title of the book is “AMERICAN RACISM, THE BIG WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION”. The Author of the book is DENNIS L. KIRKPATRICK, from the class of 1970. That seems like only a few years ago. Please preview this book at Google.com, Barnes & Nobel or Amazon.com. In Google.com, search for the above title. In the third article down - (Google Books), click on the small racism book at far left. Scroll down the large racism book at right. Such articles change positions frequently. I would rate this book as Five Star (*****). Please don’t miss this message.

Thank you, - Dennis Kirkpatrick - (Hoop)

My father, James Boyd, graduated from Bishop in the early 1950s. While growing up in Marshall, my home church, Bethesda Baptist Church, had annual Bishop College Days to raise funds for Bishop. Wiley College now claims to be the oldest Black College west of the Mississippi with no mention of Bishop at all. My heart breaks each time I hear this. Bishop was actually the oldest Black College west of the Mississippi.
